Minecraft Quilt Bonus Blocks: Magma Cream & Magma Cube

Happy Monday!

Welcome to the 27th Minecraft Mondays post (not counting the intro post), where this week's blocks are hot hot HOT! haha -- We're doing the Magma Cream (thank you @little.emerz!) and Magma Cube. :D

My son has been waiting patiently for these! First up is the Magma Cream. I love the colors, and that the pieces are small enough that I can raid my solid scraps! This one's going on the front of his quilt, the cube's going on the back.

For the Magma Cream, you'll need two shades of green, two shades of red, some orange, yellow, a patch of white and some background.

Cutting:

Dark Green: (3) 2 x 2"
            (2) 2 x 3 1/2"

Light Green: (1) 2 x 2"
             (1) 2 x 3 1/2"
             (1) 2 x 5"

Dark Red: (1) 2 x 2"
          (1) 3 1/2 x 6"

Lighter Red: (1) 2 x 5"
             (1) 2 x 7"

Orange: (1) 2 x 3 1/2"
        (1) 2 x 7"

Yellow: (3) 2 x 3 1/2"

White: (1) 2 x 2"

Background: (4) 3 1/2 x 3 1/2"
            (5) 2 x 2"
            (1) 2 x 6"

Prep:

a) Stitch your 2 x 7" strips of lighter red and orange together, as shown below, then cut into (1) 2 x 3 1/2" and (1) 3 1/2 x 5" rectangles.

b) Stitch your 2 x 6" rectangle of background and 3 1/2 x 6" rectangle of dark red together as shown below, then cut into (3) 2 x 5" rectangles.

Assembly: Assemble according to the small gray arrows first, then assemble left, middle and right sections according to their numbered arrows. Then stitch together according to the large gray arrows.

And you have a blob of Magma Cream. Which seems like it might be the anti-sunscreen. Not sure. ;) But it's super cute!

Next up is the Magma Cube. He's looking pretty sinister. I'm thinking whatever you do, don't touch him.

Assembly: Stitch pieces according to the small gray arrows first, then stitch together in order of the numbered arrows. If pieces are from the prep section above, they'll be labeled with that letter.

And it's Mr. Magma Cube! :D

I'm thinking my gray should've been darker.. but oh well. :) Thanks for popping by! I'd love to see your blocks if you're doing any extras. :)  My son is still having fun watching them all come together.

Have a great week!
