My Blog List
This week it's Enderman. According to Helen of Archie the Wonderdog, he looks pretty sinister. I totally agree. I don't know much about him, but I do think he is a sinister character. He looks especially sinister if you do the block with only white for the eyes, which is how I drew him, since that's how he was depicted on my son's t-shirt.
Feel free to change it up. Also, I mocked mine up in dark gray, just so he could be seen with black sashing, but feel free to use black if you want him to blend in and maybe look even creepier? ;) Even if you're using the Bella solids bundle, don't be afraid to change it up and pull in a random scrap or two. :D
In the end, I let my son decide which fabrics to use and he chose the purple eyes with light pink but the darker pink from the bundle might look pretty good, too. He also chose a completely different fabric! One that's black with a little pattern on it in dark gray, so it's black but will stand out a little from the sashing.
Black or dark gray:
(1) 2 x 3 1/2"
(1) 5 x 12 1/2"
(1) 6 1/2 x 12 1/2"
Eyes: (2) 2 x 5" of white or
(4) 2 x 2" of lighter and
(2) 2 x 2" of darker pinkish
or purplish color
Prep: If making two-color eyes, stitch your 2x2" squares of eye fabrics together as shown in the diagram below.
Assembly: Assemble in order of the numbered arrows. He's a super easy one!
If you're sashing as you go, stitch Enderman to the right edge of Ocelot and sashing from last week. Then cut another 5 1/2 x 12 1/2" rectangle of sashing and attach to right edge of Enderman and you'll be ready for next week! I don't have Ocelot and Enderman sashed yet. I also couldn't find any good lighting, so the light pink in his eyes looks white. :/
But here he is. He took about 10 minutes from start to finish. He's probably the easiest block in the entire quilt!
Now for a massive show and tell this week! I love seeing all the different blocks and the kid pics are STILL melting my heart!
LeeAnn at Some Cook, I Sew just started sewing along, making a quilt for her husband. Thanks for sending me the link, LeeAnn!
@Sew_Eileen is all caught up..
@squaredquilts daughter has learned to sew and is doing great!
@howmytimeflies has adapted Steve and Alex into FOUR inch blocks!! That is some tiny piecing..
@mamamel781's son is sewing along with her and pieced his own Skeleton block! (in his Creeper shirt-ha)
..and @impiehattiebea is using Moda Grunge. I love the grunge look.
Thanks again for sewing along, and for tagging your pics with one or more: @rnkelli, #minecraftmondays, #minecraftquilt so I can find them.

Wow! That was cool to see my block on your blog! I've finished five blocks now: Steve, Creeper, Skeletor, Alex, Cow. I cut out three at once thinking that would actually hurry me up, but it didn't. (rolling my eyes) I had to buy other colors of thread. Are you using the same color on all the blocks or switching depending on the block? If the same color, what color did you choose? I don't have enough black to sash the blocks together so I still have to figure that out or buy some yardage. My husband is enjoying seeing the pile grow though as am I!
I'm back! I'm so glad you're having this sew along! I'm positive this has been a LOT of work for you, but I'm gaining so much confidence by doing these blocks (and trying to catch up!) I've caught up now and will be posting on my blog either tonight or tomorrow. I'll put my blocks on Instagram (happy4learning) and tag them to you. Just a couple of details (don't you hate the little stuff?) On the eyes, you need to cut out 4 of the lighter and 4 of the darker pinkish or purplish color for two eyes. The directions have enough for one eye. Also, on the front Minecraft page, you haven't put the link up for the Enderman. Details......I should have been an editor because that's what I excel at, but thanks to you, I'm gaining confidence in piecing!
My husband agrees with the sinister typecast of this character. He hates him! He sees him a lot in hardcore (I think where he can die with no extra chances). He says Enderman's sound is like nails on a chalkboard. So he doesn't just look freaky, he IS!
