Weekend Sewing

The Inspiration--

I've been wanting to make a quilt like this for a while:

So I took these tiny squares that I inherited from my grandma:

Cut some squares out of this fabric, that my MIL found earlier in the year at a thrift shop for about $6 for the entire bolt:

And in no time at all, I have this much done:

So simple and so fun!  Even more fun when you recognize a scrap.  My grandmother had a house-dress robe type thing that she wore around the house all the time. If she went out to do errands or whatever, she would get all dressed up, jewelry and all, but at home, she would just wear that.  Her "work" clothes. :o)  Well, all these years, I had no idea that she made it.  Until I saw a little scrap.  Here it is: (the pink, red, and blue stripe and WOW, that is the worst corner match EVER)

I think I'll make it (the quilt top) twice as big as it is right now.  It seems like I haven't even made a dent in those little squares.  I think scraps secretly multiply when we're sleeping.

I also made these two pillowcases this weekend that were on my to-do list. :o)
My son picked out the airplane FQ @ the quilt show that I blogged about.

I have a SERIOUS crush on these robots!!!

*Gonna link this up with Sew Modern Monday*
Happy Monday to you all!!!

OK...OK....yes, I have love that quilt style too!!! It really is sooo simply but I think it makes a really big statment as a whole!! This is especially great since you are using your granny's fabric....yes, kind of an 'eye spy' using memorable fabrics from her stash!!
Your doing good girl!!

And yes....I LOVE to make pillowcases too!! The young uns just love them!!!

That quilt is going to be so special!!! What a wonderful thing to have scraps of fabric from clothes you remember your grandmother wearing. I love that robot fabric, too.

What a lovely way to use up scraps Kelli - especially using fabric with memories :) The pilow cases look great and might just have given me an idea for some little people presents! Thank you :)

That robot fabric is super cute! I am really looking forward to seeing the finished quilt..it's looking great already. :)

love that quilt and i love that it has a story, well done

WTG on the quilt top so far. As for the scraps, were there rabbits on any of them? That would explain the multiplication... ;o)

Love those wee robots too!

Love it! :) Thanks for linking up to {Sew} Modern Monday and have a great week!

Oh my freeeeeking words those scraps... I think you all sneak in my house and dump them in my bins. That's what I think! I'm working on all my bins the last couple days and it just goes so slow. Oh well, all good things and that jazz... hugs. Tammy

Your doing a good job by the way.
